Splitgrade
This unique system facilitates and accelerates the production of high-quality black-and-white photos on multigrade paper. By simply measuring the highlights and shadows of the projected negative, the user first determines the contrast and brightness on the enlarger frame.
Based on nearly 30 available paper calibrations, an initial suggestion for the correct exposure is then calculated with a precision of 1/10 f-stop and gradation. Thanks to the unique filter control, these values are automatically converted into a split exposure. Mixed light exposures are possible in conjunction with our LED cold light source. Beyond the system’s exposure suggestion, there are no limits to manual corrections and re-exposures. Image results are produced much faster. Creative work is encouraged—not restricted.
The advantages at a glance
Your image is typically produced in 3 minutes on RC paper or 5 minutes on baryta paper.
Convenient operation thanks to automatic filter setting.
Fast and precise determination of exposure time and gradation.
Accurate exposure times thanks to integrated shutter.
No preparatory work required for calibration.
Intuitive operation thanks to illuminated buttons and plain text display.
Manual mode allows for creative work.
Free firmware updates for new paper programs and functions.
Exposure in 2 phases with soft and hard light allows selective dodging in the hard or soft gradation phase.
If you change your enlarger at a later date, you can continue to use the Splitgrade base unit.
Device variants
The Splitgrade system can be used with any enlarger, e.g., Agfa, Ahel, Aristo, Beseler, DeVere, Dunco, Durst, Fujimoto, Heiland, Homrich, IFF, Jobo, Kaiser, Kienzle, Leitz, Linhof, LPL, Meopta, Omega, Saunders, Teufel, and Zone VI. The control unit is always identical. This allows for flexible use even if you change your negative format or enlarger at a later date. Is your enlarger not included in our price list? Then choose the Splitgrade variant for manual filter change. The filters are turned in one after the other to 100%, so the image is also created from two partial exposures. Except for the missing shutter function, all other functions are the same.
