Densitometer only for transmission measurement

The main reason for the availability of the TD series is to avoid incorrect measurements in applications where only the transmission function is required. Furthermore, this series offers the ability to measure extremely high density values of over 6 logD.

Individual adjustments make these devices perfect for technical process controls, e.g., layer and material thicknesses. Another area of application is the processing control of halftone, lith, and X-ray films.

The diameter of the measuring circle can be selected between 0.5 / 1 / 2 and 3 mm. The measuring light is available with different color temperatures, so high-performance LEDs can also be installed, among other things.

This instrument has an illuminated measuring field with a diameter of 28 mm.

The following options are available when ordering new devices. Some of the options cannot be combined with each other. Older devices can be upgraded to a limited extent. Please contact Heiland Vision and include the serial number of your device in your inquiry.

Interchangeable measuring apertures

A set of 4 apertures allows the measuring circle diameter to be individually adjusted from 0.5 – 1 – 2 or 3 mm to suit the measuring task. The apertures are framed in an opal acrylic glass disc with a diameter of 28 mm. When the measuring lever is activated, the measuring light also illuminates the area around the aperture.

USB interface

Price: €109.00

The measurement results are automatically transferred to a PC or MAC via the integrated USB interface.

With the optional DensPC program, the data can then be collected and further processed using spreadsheet software.

Measuring field illumination with four-color LED

Price: €179

This option allows you to select one of the basic colors red, green, or blue for the transmitted light measurement illumination. With white, all 3 LEDs are switched on simultaneously.

Each press of the “T/R” button changes the color of the measuring light.

This function is particularly helpful for measurements on negatives with stains. Regardless of the developer type (pyrogallol, finol, or tanol), it is possible to measure the visual density separately with white and the density in colored stain areas with blue.

Furthermore, this option can be used very well in technical and biochemical analysis procedures where density measurement must be performed separately for different wavelength ranges.

Please note that this option cannot be combined with option 07 (measuring range 6.5 logD).

Extended display resolution

In the measuring range from -0.999 to +0.999 logD, the display resolution is dynamically switched to 1/1000 density units. Beyond this range, the resolution is 1/100 density unit, as with standard devices.

Measuring range extension to 5.5 logD

Measuring range extension to 5.5 logD

Enables measurement on graphic films or process control in technical processes.

A power LED with approx. 6500 Kelvin and the selected measuring receiver extend the measuring range to 5.5 logD. This corresponds to approx. 3 PPM (parts per million) of unobstructed light transmission.

Measuring range extension to 6.5 log D

Price: €249

Enables the measurement of very dense templates or coatings, e.g. for process control in technical processes such as the manufacture of black films or the coating of glass.

A high-intensity white LED with 6000 Kelvin and selected measuring receivers extends the measuring range to 6.5 logD. This corresponds to approximately 0.3 PPM (parts per million) of unobstructed light transmission.

Please note:

  • This option cannot be combined with option 08 (multi-color LED).
  • If the aperture diameter is less than 3 mm, the measuring range is smaller.

UV illumination for transmission measurement

A UV LED with a wavelength of approx. 400 nm replaces the white transmission LED. UV light can be used, for example, to measure the density of the intermediate negative in the production of fine art prints. Safety goggles are included in the scope of delivery.

DensPC software

Price €119

The DensPC software enables the transfer of densitometer readings to PC applications.

The software is equally suitable for Microsoft Windows©, MacOS-X, and Linux (Ubuntu) operating systems.

How is the program used?

Clicking on the transfer symbol starts a series of measurements. Each stable measurement value from the densitometer is automatically entered into a table after approx. 0.5 seconds. The maximum number of entries can be set.

The first measurement value also transfers the status of the densitometer (transmission or reflection) and the unit (e.g., log. density) of the measurement value.

Settings such as the alignment of the data copied to the clipboard (column or row) can be changed. Furthermore, user-defined scaling of the measured values is possible.
