This Splitgrade system can be used with all enlargers. The operating principle is identical to the versions for automatic filter change. However, with the manual version, the filters must be screwed in or inserted by hand. Furthermore, there is no shutter.
The system is calibrated once with only two test images and can be used with both insert filters and multigrade and color heads. No modification of the enlarger is necessary.
Thanks to the modular design, one or more filter modules or even the LED cold light source can be retrofitted at any time. The purchase price of the manual version is largely credited towards this.
Options & Add-ons
The following options are available when ordering new devices. Some options cannot be combined with each other. Older devices can be upgraded to a limited extent. Please contact Heiland Vision and include the serial number of your device in your inquiry.
SPLITGRADE® Paper Flasher
Price: €139
This Splitgrade accessory makes it easier to handle high negative contrasts and improves the highlight rendering of high-contrast negatives without significantly affecting the shadow rendering.
Install the light source close to the lens or on a lens cap and connect it to your Splitgrade system using the adapter. Now you can pre-expose photographic paper in specific areas or completely without having to remove the negative. Or you can expose a black border using a suitable mask.
With green pre-exposure, you sensitize the photographic paper only in the highlights. In other words, you expose the paper until just before the point where a visible image is produced. To determine this point, the Splitgrade software has a built-in test strip mode.
The subsequent image exposure then immediately produces a visible image on the paper, even in the darkest areas of the negative.

SPLITGRADE® Comfort

For convenient operation of your existing SPLITGRADE controller
Exposure time, gradation, and re-exposure times can be conveniently set using rotary knobs and large red numeric displays.
Key functions enable quick operation of the focus light and exposure sequences. This gives you even faster control of the most important SPLITGRADE functions.
The integrated tone value display allows you to place tone values for portrait shots and enlargements with a limited tone value range.
SPLITGRADE COMFORT is simply connected to the controller. The sophisticated menu control of the Splitgrade controller can of course still be used for advanced tasks. The foot switch can also be connected to and used with the COMFORT control unit.
SPLITGRADE® Software
Our SPLITGRADE customers are entitled to install the latest update for the controller free of charge. Regardless of the three available hardware versions, each controller accepts the current software. Even the first SPLITGRADE controller from 1998 is compatible with the current software and has a happy owner.

Older Splitgrade models that do not have a USB port require an external USB-to-serial converter. To avoid difficulties with driver installation, we recommend using a converter with an FTDI chipset. This is available from us, among others.
Then install the driver for the USB port of your Splitgrade or the external USB-to-serial converter.
Then download one of these 4 software packages according to your operating system, unzip it, and run the update program.
We are also happy to perform the update for you at a price of less than 50 euros.

Software License Agreement
- The licensor is Heiland Vision GmbH, Schulstrasse 8, 35579 Wetzlar, Germany. The licensee is the visitor to the website.
- Only customers who have legally purchased a SPLITGRADE system from Heiland Vision may download the SPLITGRADE software update free of charge.
- The licensee undertakes to use the programs solely for the purpose of updating the SPLITGRADE Controller software.
- The licensee is not permitted to pass on the programs, in whole or in part, to third parties.
- The licensee is not permitted to modify the programs, in whole or in part.
- The licensee may not transfer the rights and obligations arising from this agreement to third parties.
- The software is provided free of charge by Heiland Vision to the licensee of this agreement in compliance with points 2 to 6.
- The licensor accepts no liability for loss of or damage to data, regardless of whether the damage was caused directly or indirectly by the use of the software.
- The agreement becomes legally valid upon the start of data transfer (download). The invalidity of individual provisions shall not result in the invalidity of the entire agreement.
The place of jurisdiction is Wetzlar, to the extent permitted by law.
